Description
Candice Thomas, a journalist from West End, Atlanta, loses her mother to lung cancer. After this tragic event, she decides to move to Austin where she’ll reunite with a friend she met in France. While in Austin, she discovers that life is more difficult than she thought.
Marcus Carter inherits his position, as the CEO of a tobacco company, because of the death of his white father. Almost everyone gives him a hard time because he’s the first black CEO. After finding out that his father’s death wasn’t caused by natural causes, he navigates a merger that his board has been anticipating for years, while also figuring out who killed his father.
Tensions rise between these two as they play the blame game. Did Marcus’ company cause the death of Candice’s mother? Does Candice’s new employer know who killed his father? As they both confront each other, they find out they have more in common than initially thought.
